Last week, Martha Stewart’s makeup artist let the world in on the drugstore highlighter that she used to give the TV personality a luminous glow on this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover. This week, the cover star’s hairstylist is revealing all the products he used to create Stewart’s voluminous, beachy waves at the same shoot.

Living Proof Celebrity and Brand Stylist DJ Quintero was behind the cover star’s laid-back waves. Quintero says that he was aiming to create “a modern take on Marilyn Monroe,” as the cover’s photographer, Ruvén Afanador, “wanted a disheveled sexy hair moment with lots of movement and very touchable.” To ensure that Stewart’s hair had major volume, he prepped her wet strands with the Full Thickening Mousse, a styling product that claims to provide “a flexible hold for full body that lasts.”
After drying Stewart’s hair, Quintero spritzed the Full Dry Volume & Texture Spray all over her head. It intends to bring “volume and texture to any style for an imperfectly perfect lived-in look and feel.”
To secure the look in place, Quintero reached for the Flex Hairspray, a “medium-hold spray that can be used to set, style and finish without stiffness for touchable, brushable styles.”
Last but not least, he applied the Instant De-Frizzer to ward off any unwanted frizz from the humidity. It was used intermittently throughout the shoot for touch-ups, too. Here’s to getting a luscious, beach-ready blowout just like Martha’s!
